Happy Year of the Horse
T
2026
To celebrate the 2026 Lunar New Year, we have restructured contemporary designs around the evolution of the Chinese traditional character '馬'. From Oracle Bone Script to regular script, the character '馬' consistently retains the structural characteristics of mane, four legs, and torso, embodying the ancient people's ability to highly summarize and abstract natural forms. We extracted its core outline and reinterpreted it using a minimalist linear language, returning the glyph to its original pictographic spirit.
In cultural contexts, the horse symbolizes galloping, advancement, and strength. This design presents an aspect of 'leaping forward' through smooth and coherent brushwork and rhythmical structural handling, symbolizing vigorous new beginnings, success in all endeavors, and bright prospects.
